Here's a list of what commodities and patches you can now live without since
DOpus replaces their functionality:
- ToolsDaemon, ToolManager, AmiDock, etc. - You don't need these previously
very useful programs since you can have as many user menus as you have room for
with using Opus' own "User Menus" editor (shortcut: 6). As for ToolManager's
docks, Opus button banks provide all the same usability and more.
- SwazInfo - SwazInfo was a great boon for non-NewIcons fans. It could
do far more than Commodore's own icon information window and supported dragging
and dropping of files and icons, changing of icon type and easy modification of
tooltypes. However, yet again, DOpus' own icon information window now
supercedes it and adds NewIcon flexibility too.
- ReKeyIt - This handy commodity allowed you to change Workbench's own
keyboard shortcuts for the menus into something you preferred. Unfortunately,
it's not usable with DOpus since DOpus doesn't have the same menus as
Workbench.
- TrashMaster, Black Hole, etc. - All the commodities that gave you a
system-wide trashcan can still be used if desired, but being able to hit the
delete key when you have any file selected is a lot more productive.
- ForceIcon - Although this was a very useful tool to make sure that
icons only appeared where you wanted them to, you now don't have to worry about
that thanks to DOpus' Icon Positioning scheme (shortcut: 9). ForceIcon's other
utility was in replacing the icon for disks with one of your own choosing - the
same can now be done in DOpus by overriding the original disk icon with
filetypes.
